LUNA, Apayao – As the holiday season approaches, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Apayao Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal (OPFM) reminds the public on fire safety measures to avoid fire-related mishaps, especially with the use of various fireworks.
To address this, BFP-Apayao launched the Oplan Paalala Iwas Paputok 2024, a detailed program of action to ensure the public safety against the occurrences/emergencies during the yuletide season and to ensure public safety through the enforcement of fire related laws, rules and regulations and ensure adherence to standard fire preventive measures.
The Oplan Paalala Iwas Paputok aims to promote public safety against fire emergencies through intensified fire prevention information campaigns, Ugnayan sa Barangay, and other public information activities.
Added to that, BFP-Apayao also intensifies inspections of business establishments, pyrotechnic/firecracker factories, places of assembly and residential compounds (informal settlers/shanties) identified as high risk for fire and emergencies and to enforce the provisions of Fire Code.
In their message, OPFM urged the youth to prioritize safety, saying “As we celebrate this holiday season, we urge the youth of Apayao to prioritize safety above all. Enjoy the festivities but choose safer alternatives to firecrackers.”
The agency also asked the public to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their community, underscoring that “true celebration comes from joy, not from injuries. Spread the message of fire safety and be role models for others in making our holidays safe and enjoyable!” By Loremia Pareja
