City officials recently requested the Bureau of Fire Protection–Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR) to fastrack the repair and maintenance of fire trucks stationed at the Baguio Fire Station for full mobilization during fire suppression and other related activities.
Under Resolution No. 251, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the delay in the repair and maintenance of the fire trucks stationed at the Baguio Fire Station may compromise the bureau’s capacity to promptly and adequately respond to fire incidents in the different parts of the city, putting lives and properties at risk.
The council claimed that it has come to the attention of some local legislators that certain fire trucks stationed at the BFP-CAR are allegedly currently in a state of disrepair or undergoing maintenance, hindering the bureau’s ability to effectively and efficiently respond to emergency situations, especially during fire suppression and other related activities within the jurisdiction of the Baguio Fire Station.
The body pointed out that the timely repair and maintenance of fire trucks are essential to ensure the readiness and full mobilization of firefighting resources within the BFP-CAR’s jurisdiction to be able to save life and limb from being exposed to danger during the occurrence of fire incidents in the different parts of the city.
The city government is also providing firefighting resources to the Baguio Fire Station as part of the city’s contribution in improving the capability of the local firefighters to respond to emergency situations that will transpire in any part of the city at any time of the day.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the BFP-CAR and the Baguio Fire Station for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
