BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Bontoc Municipal Fire Station (MFS) lauded the community noting that only one forest fire was recorded from April 17, 2024 -August 20, 2024.
SFO3 Charles Fidel Golocan relayed this information during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting on August 20, 2024, in Barangay Guina-ang, Bontoc, Mountain Province. With this, he expressed high hopes that no more forest/ mountain fires will occur, as he reminded the public to be mindful of the impact of forest fires on the environment, the health of the public, and the safety of everyone including the responders.
On response operations, the Bontoc MFS responded to one vehicular traffic accident at Faniyas, Barangay Samoki and one drowning incident in Tocucan in May; one motor vehicle accident in Barangay Caluttit in June; one motor vehicle accident in July; and three incidents in August to include motor vehicle accident, medical assistance and drowning.
Golocan likewise advised the public when reporting incidents to be specific so the first receiver of information will know what to coordinate with partner agencies, especially on the deployment of manpower and utilization of logistics.
