TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Fire Station (TCFS) expressed its need for additional fire engines at the recently finished first quarter press forum held last March 15 at the Davidson Hotel by the City Public Information Office.
The request for more and larger fire trucks to the city government, according to SInp. Ronald Rivera, will greatly aid in the prevention and suppression of all destructive fires in forests, buildings, homes, and other structures that may occur in the city.
He stated, “Bigger trucks that can contain more water are essential in saving lives, protecting property, and protecting natural resources from being destroyed by fire, as well as in suppressing fire at its initial stage without letting it do significant damage.
According to Rivera, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Office has already received a letter from the TCFS requesting new fire vehicles for 2020, but the office is still awaiting approval.
To make sure that fire safety equipment and procedures are in place, the TCFS continues to conduct routine inspections at government buildings and establishments.
According to the TCFS statistics, open flames from cooking and exposed (dangling)wires were the main causes of 19 fire incidents in 2022 and nine as of the first quarter of 2023.
