BANGUED, Abra – A punong barangay died after he was allegedly shot to death by two still unidentified motorcycle-riding in tandem armed men while he was buying automotive parts along the road at Zone 5, here, Thursday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as barangay Chaiman Rommel Vergara Timbreza, of legal age, married and a resident of Brgy. Silet, San Juan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was busy buying automotive parts in a shop along the road, when the two still unidentified armed suspects suddenly appeared from nowhere and repeatedly shot the victim twice on his head.
He was immediately rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to two fatal gunshot wounds on his head.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOXCO) team recovered from the crime scene two spent shells of a caliber .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
The motive of the case has yet to be established as the suspects is now the subject of a manhunt by the police.
