BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently created a committee to assess and review all official events being conducted by the local government in coordination with the City Administrator’s Office.
Under Resolution No. 505, series of 2023, local legislators stated that assessment being defined as an integral part of a certain program, the city officials events should be well assessed to determine whether or not the goals of the activities are being met for further improvement.
Likewise, the council pointed out that the proposed assessment and review helps in decision-making and could be an important tool to avoid untoward incidents where inappropriate actions to incoming events to be undertaken by the city could be avoided at the earliest possible time.
On October 31, 2017, Baguio City was designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts and is the first city in the country to be part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
The body noted that the local government has a list of official annual activities and events that have cultural and historical value as well as social and economic impact in the city’s growth and development.
The body underscored that proper observance and implementation of the official events and activities would reflect the success of the socio-economic achievement and direction of the local government as a UNESCO designated Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts.
Copies of the approved resolution will be immediately transmitted to the concerned offices of the local government for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
