BONTOC, Mountain Province – Athletes who participated and earned medals during the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2025 were awarded with cash incentives by the municipal government on March 10, 2025.
Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr. and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Mark Branford Andaya led the awarding of financial incentives to the athletes, along with their respective coaches and trainers.
Further, Mayor Tudlong, along with the Sangguniang Bayan, congratulated the delegates from Bontoc for their achievements.
For individual events, gold medalists received PhP5,000 each, silver medalists were awarded PhP3,000, and bronze medalists took home PhP2,000. In team and dual sports events, gold earners were given PhP10,000, silver earners tugged PhP7,000, and bronze earners hauled PhP5,000. Coaches were also rewarded with 10% of the cash incentives their athletes received.
The gold medalists are Mark Jude Calawen – Archery; Jessie Daniel Lopez – Archery; Jeflyn Molina – Arnis; Pinky Paspas – Arnis; Roscoe Bhane Kadchao – Lawn Tennis; Efren Joe Cayabas – Lawn Tennis; Jexanae Carlize Bacayan – Lawn Tennis; Kimberly Kate Macalling – Wrestling; Lj Xyserlyn Dongpopen – Wrestling; and Neihhum Ayan – Taekwondo.
The silver medalists are Emilio Jr. Faycan – Arnis; Persimenia Cherweg – Athletics; Florybelle Mangolinchao – Athletics; Azalea Breyda Bandongen – Athletics; Jensen Constantine Begay – Boxing; Gerard Xypher Pablo – Taekwondo; Johren Bongotan – Sepak Takraw; and Jesophat Almendral – Pencak Silat.
The bronze medalists included Pinky Paspas – Arnis; Reginald Lokok – Athletics; Althea Bomongal – Athletics; Sharlyn Fesetan – Athletics; Krishanet Ngallawen – Badminton; Sharmelle Molay Gaya – Badminton; Vincent Co – Boxing; Nicolas Luke Baniswal – Pencak Silat; Julienne Kate Pey-agen – Pencak Silat; Khrizzia Ryhz Dizon – Taekwondo; Khay Lee Sig-od – Wushu; Kenneth Padcayan – Wushu; Jacob Ah Calngan – Arnis; Ciaraniel Inmachog – Badminton; Yhanzae Langeg – Badminton; Genesis Pagedped – Chess; Mark Gil Gacawen – Sepak Takraw; Fer John Lapa-an – Sepak Takraw; Jayvie Ridao – Sepak Takraw; Johren M. Bongotan – Sepak Takraw; AgapeCesha Ngollob – Pencak Silat; and Gillian Marie Bangdo – Pencak Silat.
In total, the municipal government distributed PhP135,450.00 cash incentives. This gesture aims to recognize the pride and honor these athletes brought to both the municipality and the province.
The awarding of incentives was facilitated by Local Youth Development Officer Ross Kiat-ong.
In his message, Mayor Tudlong commended the athletes for their outstanding achievements in their respective categories. He added that their remarkable skills, solid determination, hard work, and perseverance have become an inspiration to the younger generation aspiring to become champions in the world of combative sports.
Similarly, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), led by Vice Mayor Kabluyen, lauded the athletes and their coach for their achievements. The SB members expressed high hopes that more youth would engage in sports that not only promote healthy lifestyles but also exemplify good attitude and self-discipline. By Zenith Vale M. Changat,
