BONTOC, Mountain Province – Service providers from the tourism sector and industry sector, along with the barangay officials and community members who are expected to be on the frontline in the conduct of the most anticipated Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup happening from June 19 to 23, 2024, in Bontoc, Mountain Province underwent the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training on June 05, 2024.
The tourism and industry stakeholders who are undergoing the training are workers and owners of the accommodation, food and beverage establishments, barangay officials, local tour guides, marshalls, and members of the Bontoc Federated Association of Tricycle Operators and Drivers (BOFATOD).
The training funded by the Department of Tourism –Cordillera Administrative Region and the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) aims to capacitate the attendees with the proper knowledge, skills, and attitude to provide quality service to domestic and foreign tourists. Thus, the training is part of the Bontoc LGU’s stepping-up efforts to strengthen the overall tourism experience of all runners coming from different countries and other parts of the Philippines during the Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup of the Philippine Trail Running Association (Philtra) and the Southeast Asian Trail Running Confederation.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., extended his gratitude to the DOT-CAR for its usual support to all the undertakings of the Bontoc LGU, especially in preparation for the first international event in the municipality.
Mayor Tudlong commended the attendees for their participation and encouraged them to put into practice the learning that they will gain from the training as these are essential in boosting the tourism industry in the municipality.
Tudlong highlighted that the business sector is expected to benefit from the Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup, thus, he encouraged the business establishment owners to hang tarpaulins to show their warmest welcome to the runners and guests who will be taking part in the international trail running event.
With the mountain trails of Bontoc that are becoming the favourite spot of runners, the mayor is looking forward to declaring the municipality as the “Trail Running Capital of Northern Luzon”.
