BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) took extra steps in taking care of the health and wellness of its employees by providing them with free vitamins.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., said that employees and officials are at the forefront of providing services to the public, thus, they are exposed to health risks.
The mayor added that employees deserve support and protection as the country is still battling with COVID-19. Also, with the cold weather and lower temperature being experienced, it may bring several common illnesses.
“Maintaining healthy and good nutrition and boosting one’s immune system is vital especially since we are still in a health crisis. Also, healthier and happy employees are more productive at work and are less likely to call in sick or use vacation time due to illness,” Tudlong remarked.
With this, he directed the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to allocate funds for the purchase of vitamins to be distributed to officials and employees of the Bontoc LGU including those who are hired in a casual, contractual, and job order appointment.
The MDRRMO has equally divided the vitamins procured, of which each individual received 55 capsules of Ascorbic Acid + Zinc and 35 tablets of Vitamin B-complex.
