BONTOC, Mountain Province – The municipality will be celebrating its 116th founding anniversary and 20th Am-among festival with the conduct of various crowd drawing events that will run from September 6-16, 2024.
Mayor Jerome Chagsen Tudlong, Jr. said that the theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Innovation and Adaptability for a Better and Brighter Bontoc.’
He invited both residents and visitors to join the activities that had been lined up for the said celebration as it will be the first full blown face to face gathering after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The activities fired off last September 6 with a tree planting activity in barangay Samoki where participants from different sectors were able to plant assorted tree species in the identified plantation site.
On September 9, 2024, there will be a thanksgiving mass which will be followed by the opening of the agro-industrial trade fair that will feature the various products from the different parts of the municipality.
The public is also being invited to join the Walk for a Cause scheduled on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 which will be followed by the Ifontoc Got Talent in the evening while the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) will be conducting its mobile services and jobs fair on September 11, 2024.
The municipal government will also be conducting free spaying and neutering of dogs and cats aside from rabies vaccination at the basement of the municipal capitol building on September 12, 2024 which will be followed by the Am-among Marcsongs concert.
Individuals and groups will be showcasing their skills and talents during the Am-among Skills Challenge on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management on September 13, 2024 that will be followed by the Voices of Harmony: A Choral Journey presented by the Bontoc municipal government chorale.
Bike enthusiasts will have a chance to join the Bike for a Cause on September 14, 2024 that will be followed by a folk dance competition.
The much awaited Am-among cultural streetdancing competition and program which is one of the major highlights of the celebration will be held on September 15, 2024 while the civic parade and creative streetdancing and foundation day program will be held on September 16, 2024.
“We hope that residents and visitors will patronize the various events that had been lined up for this year’s celebration considering that it will be the first full blown face to face gathering right after the negative impact of the pandemic,” Mayor Tudlong stressed.
He pointed out that the public will surely be entertained and will be provided with the necessary services with the various activities that had been lined up by the local government for this year’s founding anniversary and Am-among festival celebration. By Dexter A. See
