BONTOC, Mountain Province – A steady record of low crime incidents and consistent ordinance enforcement underscore this capital town’s ongoing efforts to preserve peace and public safety.
This was reported by PCMS Valiant Fantiyao of the Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting held on June 18, 2025, in Barangay Bayyo.
Covering the period from April 22 to June 17, 2025, the Bontoc MPS recorded seven crime incidents three vehicular traffic accidents, two violations of special laws, one index crime, and one non-index crime.
Ordinance enforcement, particularly on traffic regulations, also remained a key focus. A total of 371 traffic-related violations were documented, with not wearing a helmet topping the list at 205 cases, followed by prohibited parking with 109. Other infractions included obstruction (8), lack of driver’s license (13), use of slippers while driving (10), absence of vehicle registration documents (3), incorrect parking mode (3), overloading (1), modified muffler (1), and unattended parking (12).
As a result of intensified monitoring, the Office of the Municipal Treasurer collected ₱236,100 in fines for the period.
In this regard, the Bontoc MPS is reminding the public to actively cooperate in maintaining peace and order by adhering to national laws, municipal ordinances, and supporting law enforcement efforts within the community.
