BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) has provided new uniform vests to the Barangay Tanods, also known as Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs), in the barangays of Bayyo, Talubin, Caneo, and Tocucan.
This initiative aims to enhance the visibility of the Barangay Tanods, ensuring they are easily identifiable while on duty.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr.,and Municipal Administrator Eric Fulangen, Sr., led the distribution ceremony. Both officials highlighted the significance of uniforms in improving community service.
During the event, Fulangen reminded the recipients about the proper use of the vests, which are to be worn during regular patrols, while responding to disturbances and disputes, assisting inthe enforcement of regulations, and performing duties related to maintaining peace and order in their communities.
In his message, Mayor Tudlong emphasized the crucial role that Barangay Tanods play in upholding peace and order within the municipality. He commended their dedication and hard work, recognizing them as frontliners in addressing issues at the grassroots level.
“You, our Barangay Tanods, are the frontliners in maintaining peace and order and ensuring safety in our barangays. You play a crucial role in ensuring that our community remains a safe and harmonious place for everyone. Thus, as a gesture of our gratitude for your hard work and commitment to serving your respective villages, it is only fitting that we provide you with uniforms to use while on duty,” the mayor
stated.
