BONTOC, Mountain Province – Learners and book enthusiasts in the 16 barangays of Bontoc and at the Municipal Library will soon have additional quality books to borrow and read.
The municipal elective officials led by Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., received 65 boxes of fiction and nonfiction books for children and high school students donated by the Bawat Bata Outreach recently at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol. Bawat Bata Outreach is spearheaded by Tropang Kubaw, a group of friends bound by a strong love for the outdoors as well as a passion for mission work and volunteer services.
Tudlong extended his gratitude to the group adding that the public, especially the young learners have additional reading materials to borrow which is fundamental in developing their reading and comprehension skills.
According to Municipal Librarian Chamreine Casiwen, the books will be distributed to the 16 barangays in the municipality for additional reading references. She also added that the books have a great contribution to the library for it is where the children and the learners come and explore the importance of education.
Likewise, the municipal government expressed its gratitude to the Primary Learning Assistant of British School Manila (BSM) Gemma Mallillin who initiated the donation and to the donors – British School Manila, Raoul Chee Kee, Gino Gonzales, and Monique Villongco.
Further, the municipal government acknowledged the logistics and transportation support of Mountain Province House Representative Maximo Dalog Jr., Atty Cyprene Dalog, Runah Domoguen, Michael Guinness, Jay Galang, Raf Dionisio, Levie Asuncion, Tina Coligado, and BSM janitors.
Other officials present during the turnover of book donations were Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen, Sangguniang Bayan members Jupiter Jule Kalangeg, Dan Evert Sokoken, Glenn Bacala, Timothy Pongad Jr., Julian Chumacog, Peter Kedawen, Benedict Odsey II, Viola Okko, David Coycoyen, Sherwin Chamkas, and Jimmy Cherwaken.
