BONTOC, Mountain Province – Thirty tourism stakeholders in this capital town underwent a Front Office Operation Training at the Ridgebrook Hotel and Restaurant in Barangay Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province on April 19-21, 2022.

The participants included owners and employees of accommodation, food, and beverage establishments operating in the municipality.

The training was conducted by the Department of Tourism- Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) in partnership with the municipal government through the Municipal Tourism Office.

The DOT-CAR funded the training and provided the resource speaker while the municipal government, through the Municipal Tourism Office, was in charge of coordination with the participants and the venue. The resource speaker was Dr. Freddie Quinito.

Aside from the Front Office Operation Training, a Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training was conducted on April 18, 2022, and attended by various tourism stakeholders.

Municipal Tourism Officer Caren Guinayen who represented Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey during the training mentioned that the front office or front desk is the face of accommodation, food, and beverage establishments as it is the first guest or client contact area.

With this, Guinayen remarked that the training is important in providing excellent quality service to tourists since Bontoc, and even Mountain Province, as a whole is gradually opening its tourism activities.

Since Bontoc opened its door to tourists, among the frequented tourist destinations in the municipality are Mt. Kopapey – Sea of Clouds in Maligcong; Kaman-utek in Balili; Bayyo Rice Terraces, Pitawana Waterfalls and Navarangnan River all in Barangay Bayyo; and Mt. Kalawwit in Barangay Talubin.
