BONTOC, Mountain Province- Winners in the “Search for the Healthiest Mother and Child 2023” received their cash prizes and certificates during the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony earlier today, May 29, 2023, at the Municipal Capitol grounds.
Kurt Tiw-an from Barangay Gonogon came in first place in the contest for The Healthiest Child category, scoring an average of 98 percent, receiving a PhP 2,500 cash award. With an average of 96 percent., Jess Alingcayon from Tocucan took second place and received PhP 1,500 in cash. Third-placer Illiana Bongyao from Samoki garnered a 95 percent average and won PhP 1,000 cash.
Meanwhile, winners in the category of Healthiest Mothers each earned the same amount of money. With a score of 93 percent., Reymar Segseg of Bontoc Ili took first place. With an average of 92%, Joan Hewan from Can-eo came in second, and Kimberly Liswid from Caluttit took third place with an average of 87 percent.
Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., Sangguniang Bayan member and Chairperson of the Committee on Health Benedict Odsey II, Municipal Health Officer Diga Kay Gomez, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Venous Cofulan handed over the cash prizes and certificates to the winners.
The contest was initiated by the municipal government through the Municipal Health Office (MHO) as part of the province’s initiative to increase awareness of the value of proper nutrition in the first 1000 days of life in preventing malnutrition.
