BANAUE, Ifugao May 29 – An 8-year old boy died after he was allegedly carried away by the strong water current at the Tapia waterfalls, Batad, here, Monday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Fredie Nabad-ao Amehna, 8 years old, Pupil at Batad Elementary School, and a resident of Sitio Balluha, Brgy Batad, Banaue, Ifugao.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and a group of children from their place went to swim in the said waterfalls when he was allegedly carried away by the strong water current and dragged into the deep portion of the waterfalls until he drowned.
His companions tried to rescue the victim but their efforts were in vain that prompted them to seek help from people in the area who reported the matter to the concerned authorities.
The victim’s lifeless body was later recovered and brought to their residence for him to be given a decent wake and burial.
