PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A 7-year old boy died after he allegedly drowned when her cousin lost the grip of his hand while crossing the Saltan river at Liplipoken, Malagnat, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Arman Baggas Valera, 7, a resident of Barangay Aciga, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and his older cousin were crossing the river when the latter accidentally lost her balance and slipped thereby losing her grip on the hands of the young boy who was later carried away by the strong river current.
Search and rescue operations were done by responding volunteers and that the victim’s lifeless body was recovered one day after the said incident.
The remains of the victim was brought home by his relatives for him to be given a descent wake and burial.
