LUNA, Apayao – To provide facilities that are conducive to learning for the July 29 opening of classes, the Department of Education (DepEd) Apayao Division held the province-wide Brigada Eskwela 2024 kickoff program in various schools in the province on July 22, 2024.
The Brigada Eskwela or School Maintenance Week, is a weeklong activity and will end on July 27.
“Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan” is the theme for this year’s activity, according to DepEd Memorandum No. 009 series of 2024, issued on July 15.
The DepEd previously announced that the School Year 2024–2025 would begin on July 29 and end on April 15, 2025.
To emphasize the value of community cooperation and guarantee tidy, orderly classrooms, contests and competitions for the Best Implementing School Awards, Hall of Fame Awards, and Brigada Plus have been permanently discontinued.
Additionally, DepEd asked school heads, teachers, and staff members to participate in volunteer work without asking for donations. Cleanups, small repairs, and upkeep are encouraged from the community, parents, graduates, businesses, and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).
The Brigada Eskwela does not take monetary contributions. It solicits cleaning and repair materials, other non-cash donations, and community volunteers who paint the classroom, fix chairs and tables, leaking roofs and faucets, cement walks, freshen up the garden and surroundings in preparation for the start of classes.
“Sa hanay naming mga magulang, hindi kami makakaiwas sa ganitong mga aktibidad haggat mayroon kaming mga anak na nag aaral. Patuloy po kaming makikiisa at makakaasa kayo sa aming buong pusong suporta sa lahat ng programa ng DepEd,” said Mr. Bobby Rigonan, Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) Federation President, Luna School District.
