PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A 38-year old farmer was injured after he was repeatedly hacked by his younger brother while asleep inside their residence at Bugtoy, Dugpa, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Rolando Bangguwoy Magwelang, 38, married, farmer while he named the suspect as his own younger brother, Romy Bangguwoy Magwelang, 29, married, farmer and both residents of Bugtoy, Dugpa, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was asleep inside his residence when his drunk younger brother suddenly broke inside and with no apparent reasons, hacked him several times on the different parts of his body before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Almora General Hospital in Tabuk City for medical treatment while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Barangay officials and relatives during several hours of negotiations.
