TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Barangay Bulanao launched its first “Binungor Festival” on March 12 which will end on the 15th, marking a triple celebration alongside its 76th Founding Anniversary and annual fiesta. Under the theme “Commitment for Better Governance,” the event drew a large crowd of barangay residents, barangay and city officials, provincial government representatives, and various stakeholders.
Key government officials, including Governor Edduba, Vice Governor Jocel Baac, and representatives of Tabuk City Mayor Darwin Estrañero and Congress representative Allen Jesse Mangaoang, attended and expressed strong support. They stressed the festival’s importance in promoting Kalinga’s distinct culinary tradition, particularly the “Binungor” dish, which is popular with visitors.
Barangay Secretary May Gunnawa Bollecer explained the festival’s name, emphasizing that Bulanao’s diverse community, made up of people from various cultural backgrounds, reflects the complex yet delicious nature of “Binungor”, a dish with many ingredients that combine to create a delightful flavor.
The week-long festivity includes a variety of entertaining activities, including the “Binungor Cookfest,” Miss Bulanao Pageant, Miss Gay (March 14, 2025), and the “Ta RUN Na” (race). Festival goers can expect prizes and surprises for the winners of these competitions. By Jesse Maguiya
