Governor Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang during the week called for continued vigilance and stricter adherence to prescribed health protocols in the light of the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the past week and findings indicating “variants of potential significance” among these cases.
Gov. Leah said the prime defense against Covid-19 is taking care of one’s self in accordance with minimum health protocols such as wearing of mask, washing of hands and social distancing.
The Governor started the week with an emergency meeting of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases last Monday, March 15, and proceeded to check on the situation in some municipalities in subsequent days.
Despite the spike in cases though, the Governor ruled out suspension of office works, directing that the implementation of regular programs and services shall continue except during scheduled disinfection of offices.
Accordingly, the Governor also directed the Offices of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) to stand ready for any assistance barangays subjected to granular lockdown may need. BY GERRIAHZON S. SEBASTIAN
