TABUK CITY, Kalinga — In efforts to streamline the process of obtaining CCTV footage related to any crime or incident that occurs within business premises or public spaces, the City Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (CAGPTD) convened today to discuss best practices for facilitating requests while ensuring the safety and privacy of all parties involved.
During the meeting, the representative of business establishments emphasized the importance of submitting a formal written request to the entity responsible for the CCTV system. This request should include proof of the incident or crime, demonstrate authority to access the footage, and address privacy considerations.
Key Guidelines for Requesting CCTV Footage shall include a written request which clearly identify the person or entity making the request, along with their role in the investigation.
It should specify the purpose of the request, such as crime investigation or incident verification, the request must contain detailed information about the incident, including the date, time, and location of the alleged crime or incident. This helps narrow down the footage needed and facilitates a more efficient retrieval process.
Business owners and stakeholders have expressed the need for a standardized procedure to ensure transparency and legality in accessing CCTV footage. Adhering to these guidelines can promote a proper and lawful process for requesting footage, ultimately aiding crime investigations while respecting individual privacy rights.
In addition to streamlining footage requests, the CAGPTD also recommended that the Local Executive Council issue an order requiring all barangays within Tabuk City to install CCTV cameras in strategic locations. This initiative aims to strengthen community security, support crime prevention efforts, and facilitate quicker resolution of criminal activities.
Implementing these measures underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a safer environment for residents, business owners, and visitors alike.
By adopting these practices, Tabuk City continues to demonstrate its proactive approach to public safety and effective law enforcement. By Darwin Serion
