BANGUED, Abra – A businessman died after he was gunned down by a lone gunman while he was unloading goods from his vehicle inside the public market here Friday.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as GodofredoTupasi Marquez, of legal age, married, business man and a resident of Barangay San Miguel, Bucay, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was unloading goods from his vehicle for his stall when a still unidentified gunman fired at him several times hitting him on the different parts of his body.
He was immediately rushed by concerned citizens to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) recovered from the crime scene 16 spent shells and 4 deformed slugs of a caliber .45 pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
The motive of the businessman’s murder is still being ascertained by investigators who are now conducing manhunt against the suspect who fled towards an undisclosed direction after the incident.
