CALANASAN, Apayao – The municipal government, together with its Municipal Health Office (MHO), spearheaded the celebration of 2024 Nutrition Month on July 30, 2024 at Calanasan Sports and Cultural Center in Poblacion.
Municipal government department heads, employees and contenders from different barangays within the municipality participated in the celebration.
A cookfest, Zumba sessions, and poster-making were among the contested activities during the celebration.
Due to the numerous hypertensive cases in the municipality, Dr. Jeraldine A. Bosing steered an outreach campaign centered on non-communicable diseases along with home parental nutrition and diabetes mellitus related to nutrition.
Nurse Verma Fe Agubo lectured on sexually transmitted diseases to provide a full health education to the participants.
Nutrition Month is observed every July according to Presidential Decree 491, enacted in 1974, to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition among Filipinos.
