CALANASAN, Apayao – The Local Government Unit of Calanasan, led by Mayor Shamir Bulut, is among the 55 ‘Fully Compliant Awardees’ in CAR for the 24th Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance for the Local DRRM Councils and Offices category.
The RDRRM made the pronouncement on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
The coveted Gawad KALASAG “Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan” is one of the country’s institutionalized programs that promotes the spirit of volunteerism among agencies and individuals, especially during times of disasters.
Said program serves as a mechanism to obtain sustained commitment and support to government initiatives by recognizing the exceptional contributions of DRRM practitioners in strengthening the resilience and adaptive capacities of various aspects of society and communities to disaster risks.
Mayor Shamir thanked the LDRRM members and partners for their timely delivery of services to residents and lauded their dedication to their sworn duties.
As the LDRRM chair, Bulut has pledged to advocate for a more disaster resilient community for the people, efficiently implementing disaster management strategies to better serve the vulnerable.
