CALANASAN, Apayao – TaBuPaRi Village in Calanasan has advanced to the finals of the 2023 Best Cordillera Tourism Village Search as confirmed by the Department of Tourism-CAR.
This recognition stems from its exceptional potential to bolster the province’s economy through tourism.
The village was chosen as one of the twelve (12) finalists after careful evaluation, and it will soon undergo scrutiny by a panel of inter-agency judges tasked with determining this year’s premier tourism village. The primary aim of this competition is to spotlight lesser-known, burgeoning villages that leverage tourism for sustainable development and economic growth.
Recently, DOT-CAR Regional Director Jovita Ganongan announced that the department localizes tourist activities to assist and promote unpopular areas and get people to participate in more government programs through a whole-of-government approach.
The judging process for the finalists will be based on specified criteria, with each category contributing a specific percentage to the overall assessment.
These criteria encompass Sustainable Management (25%), Cultural Sustainability (25%), Socioeconomic and Rural Economic Development Sustainability (25%), and Environmental Sustainability (25%).
The victorious village will be awarded a cash prize of P1 million, along with a trophy and token. The runner-up will receive P500,000, a trophy, and a token, while the third-place finisher will be granted P200,000, a trophy, and a token. Additionally, three runners-up will each receive P100,000, certificates, and tokens.
