LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Preparations are underway for the staging in October of the Capitol’s Pagalaw tan Olupan ed Gobyerno Itanduro (POGI) 2016, a sports festival which gathers seven teams vying for supremacy in the highly anticipated sporting events and over-all championship crown.
Provincial Sports Consultant Modesto Operania bared during a preparatory meeting with representatives from competing teams held at the Capitol building conference hall recently that the POGI sportsfest which was conceptualized by Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III is a continuation of the Angguan Tan Ehersisyo (ATE) sports fest launched under the administration of his predecessor, former Pangasinan governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr.
Operania further noted that the Pagalaw tan Olopan is anchored on strengthening the fitness, wellness and health programs launched by the provincial government for Capitol employees.
Seven teams of clustered offices, departments, hospitals and agri-field stations of the provincial government will once again clash in various categories of 9 sporting events/activities which include: lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, tug of war, chess, fun run and track events.
Scheduled games will start this October and to end in December.
Muses representing the seven teams will also vie for the Miss POGI pageant to be held right after the sportsfest opening ceremonies.
The highly-anticipated cheerdance competition which displays the creativity in presentation and innate talents of Capitol employees in producing the synchrony of lively dance moves, stunts and tosses, also takes action during the opening ceremonies.
Seven competing teams with color codes are as follows:
Financiers (violet ): assessor’s office, accounting office, treasury office, budget office, library, legal office, veterinary office, agriculture office, social welfare and development office, Civil Service Commission office, prosecutor’s office, TESDA office, Commission of Audit office, national commission on indigenous people office and environment and natural resources office.
Generals (orange): general services office – administrative division, property division, building maintenance, Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center and buildings, parks and security support services division.
Builders (blue): engineering office and public utility and waterworks.
Warriors (yellow): governor’s office, management information services office, warden’s office, human resource management and development office, housing and urban development office, special events, disaster risk reduction and management office, employment services office, Capitol Resort hotel, tourism and cultural affairs office, planning and development office, information office, bids and awards committee.
Benchmark (black): Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, Western Pangasinan and Mangatarem District Hospitals; and community hospitals in Dasol and Bolinao.
Medics (pink color): health office, population office; Eastern Pangasinan, Lingayen, Urdaneta and Bayambang District Hospitals; and community hospitals in Asingan, Umingan and Pozorrubio.
Legislators (white): vice governor’s office, offices of all board members and Sangguniang Panlalawigan secretariat office.
