DOLORES, Abra October 17 – A person was killed while two others were injured during a shooting incident that transpired after an alleged misunderstanding between players of a card game at brangay Taping, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Modesto Baldemor Bergonia, 54, a resident of Barangay Taping, Dolores, Abra while the injured individuals were named as Narciso Pinto Aldaca, 54, a resident of Barangay Lub-luba, Dolores and Ramie Manangbao, Bagsi, 27 and a resident of Barangay Buneg, Lacub, Abra.
Initial police investigation disclosed that Bergonia and Bagsi were playing cards “pusoy” at the wake of Julie B. Piano at brgy. Taping, Dolores when a heated argument ensued between them. During the exchange of words, the two drew their firearms and began shooting each other. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Aldaca who was also present at the wake was hit with stray bullets. They were rushed to the Dolores Medicare and Community Hospital.
Bergonia was declared Dead in Arrival by the attending physician at the hospital. Aldaca and Bagsi were later transferred at the Abra Provincial Hospital in Bangued.
The Abra Provincial Crime Laboratory Office team processed the crime scene and were able to recover the one caliber 45 Armscor, chamber loaded magazine with five live ammunition, two fired cartridge cases for cal. 45, two cartridge for cal. 45 and one fired bullet.
