TABUK CITY, Kalinga – College graduates and students from the Kalinga State University (KSU) who were selected as this year’s beneficiaries of the cash-for-work program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received their incentive at today’s pay-out.
The 500 individuals (college graduates and college students) worked for at least 90 days in various offices and agencies.
College students were paid PhP215 a day for a four-hour workday, while graduates received PhP430 for an eight-hour workday.
An orientation event was arranged to acquaint the new batch of cash for work program beneficiaries before the payout, which took place today in the KSU gymnasium and was facilitated by representatives of the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office-Kalinga and DSWD-CAR respectively.
In order to be eligible for the program, KSU graduates must submit a copy of their diploma and their barangay certificate of indigency to the guidance office. College students must also submit a copy of their student evaluation and must have completed at least 21 units to be eligible. Two-year course graduates are also welcome to apply to this program.
The fund that was transferred to the DSWD Central Office originated from the office of Senator Imee Marcos and was used to pay for the beneficiaries’ incentives.
In addition to helping college graduates make money as they look for a steady job, this cash for work program will empower college students by meeting their basic necessities and providing them with hands-on office experience.
Another 500 students have been identified as the next batch of program beneficiaries, according to the SWAD Office. By Darwin S. Serion
