BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently urged the City Building and Architecture Office (CBAO) to make the necessary and immediate repairs and maintenance of the pedestrian overpass roofs in the city.
Under Resolution No. 657, series of 2024, local legislators stated that it has been observed that during rainy days or heavy downpours, most of the pedestrian overpasses, specifically those within the central business district have leaking roofs causing water to flood the walkways and regular pedestrians, like students, have to adjust to the leaking overpass roofs which often sometimes get them wet, thus, there is a need to make the necessary repairs and maintenance of the pedestrian overpass roofs for safety and convenience of the public.
During the Scout Officials For A Day (SOFAD) session held on October 21, 2024, the SOFAD Council adopted the proposal of SOFAD Councilor Jayrod C. Beniasan that requested the CBAO to conduct maintenance check and repair of pedestrian overpass roofs in the city, particularly those in the central business district.
The council pointed out that it is the State’s responsibility to ensure a safe and secure environment for students to pursue their studies in various schools around the city without fear for their physical wellbeing.
The various overpasses had been built in the city purposely to ensure the convenience of pedestrians in going to their desired destinations around the city without being affected by the traffic congestions right at the heart of the city.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the CBAO for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
