Cordillera Business Sectors Transport Cooperative to provide and environmental friendly modernize transportation vehicles. Research says that air pollution consists of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. It also damages buildings. Most air pollution is created by people, taking the form of emissions from factories, cars, planes, or aerosol cans. In the Philippines especially here in Baguio City that has topped a list of Philippine cities with the most polluted air, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) study. Of the Philippine cities included in the study, Baguio City was the most pollution-prone with 49 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
“The lack of visible smog is no indication that the air is healthy. Air pollution is hard to escape, no matter how rich an area you live in. It is all around us. Microscopic pollutants in the air can slip past our body’s defenses, penetrating deep into our respiratory and circulatory system, damaging our lungs, heart and brain. Air pollution is closely linked to climate change – the main driver of climate change is fossil fuel combustion which is also a major contributor to air pollution – and efforts to mitigate one can improve the other. Air pollution has a disastrous effect on children. Worldwide, up to 14 percent of children aged 5 – 18 years have asthma relating to factors including air pollution. Pregnant women are exposed to air pollution, it can affect fetal brain growth. Air pollution is also linked to cognitive impairment in both children and adults.” – World Health Organization (WHO)
And so being cautious about those research CBSTC provides uses an environmental friendly oil that not only helps us but also our environment. It said this was partly due to more people using vehicles, adding this meant a higher risk of getting cancer, stroke or heart disease.
That is why the LTFRB are implementing new vehicle standards that are being developed which is based on extensive consultations with involved government agencies, jeepney associations and local and international manufacturers.
The modern PUV are designed to be environment-friendly, safe, secure and convenient with due consideration to our Persons-with-Disabilities (PWDs) passengers. Wherein CBSTC is complying with the requirements and is already polishing the jobs needed to be done right away. In order for all of this to happen we all need to help one another in making our cities, provinces, and country a safe and innovated place for all.
