TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) of Tabuk City has documented some important milestones in Cooperative Enterprise Development since its inception.
According to Administrative Officer Ronald Ramos, their office has played an important role in providing technical assistance and guidance to both existing and emerging cooperatives as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), thereby increasing their viability as economic enterprises and socially driven organizations.
As part of its core programs, CCEDO continues to assist associations and organizations aspiring to register as cooperatives, ensuring they meet all legal and operational requirements and strengthening the cooperative movement and supporting inclusive economic growth.
Ramos cited their vision to become an exemplary and prototypical Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office in Luzon by 2030, and their office remains steadfast in delivering responsive services that empowers cooperatives and MSMEs across Tabuk City.
The cooperative office has rolled out several Information, Education, and Communication campaigns in various barangays, along with in-house trainings and workshops focused on improving cooperative operations and governance.
A landmark achievement was the hosting of the International Year of Cooperatives celebration in partnership with the Provincial Government of Kalinga, welcoming regional cooperatives who benchmarked with Tabuk’s leading coops.
CCEDO has also revitalized key support structures, including the City Cooperative Development Council and the Cooperative Managers for Development Club of Tabuk City.
They are currently working toward the establishment of the Tabuk City Federation of Cooperatives and a Credit Surety Fund, initiatives aimed at providing broader financial support and sustainability to local cooperatives.
In celebration of Global Money Week, the office conducted financial literacy sessions in both public and private secondary schools, reaching over 500 students. The sessions were delivered in collaboration with laboratory and partner cooperatives committed to advancing financial education among the youth.
Responding to a growing call from stakeholders and national agencies, CCEDO has initiated steps to establish Tabuk City as the “First Cooperative City.” The groundwork for the ambitious endeavor includes formalizing partnerships with local agencies, departments, and the Kalinga State University through memoranda of agreement.
The collective efforts were recently recognized when the city government, under the leadership of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, received a Gawad Parangal Regional Recognition during the CAR Cooperative Month celebration held at the Benguet Sports Complex in La Trinidad, Benguet last year.
The CCEDO calls on the public to continue supporting the cooperative movement stating that growth is inclusive and development is shared by all. By Tabuk PIO
