TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In a joint effort to strengthen the capabilities of local cooperatives, the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) conducted a one-day seminar focusing on the benefits of forming cooperatives.
The seminar was held for members of the Kalinga Pioneers and Immigrants Association, who expressed their intention to establish a cooperative.
The program was designed to improve participants’ awareness of cooperative principles, organizational management, and the role of good governance in establishing a sustainable cooperative movement.
Engr. Ryan Jose of CCEDO explained to the audience that creating a cooperative allows members to earn interest on capital and receive patronage refunds while also developing experience and skills among members. Jose emphasized that in a cooperative, members become both owners and customers.
Jane Sangdaan presented the documentary requirements for registering a cooperative which includes by-laws, articles of cooperation, treasurer’s affidavit, bond of accountable, and attendance to pre-registration seminar.
This activity given for prospective cooperatives emphasized the significance in ensuring the continuous growth and development of cooperatives in the city. The seminar is part of the ongoing efforts to build strong and resilient cooperatives that will contribute to the city’s socio-economic progress.
If approved, Kalinga Pioneers and Immigrants Association will join the roster of registered and active cooperatives in the city. By Darwin S. Serion
