ROSARIO, La Union – Four staff members from the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) successfully completed an eight-day intensive Training of Trainers under the Cooperative Development Officer (CDO) Certification Program held at NORLUCEDEC in Rosario, La Union, from September 9-16, 2024.
The program was the first of its kind to be implemented in the Cordillera.
Participants included Loneza C. Navarro, Analiza Malapit, Jane V. Sangdaan, and Elizalde Fortez. The national initiative, conducted by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), was aligned with CDA
Memorandum Circular No. 2023-12 and aimed to equip CDOs with essential skills to support cooperative development in their local communities.
The certification program focused on cooperative governance, management, and training methodologies, and preparing the CDOs to deliver mandatory training on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives.
It also enhanced their ability to assist cooperatives in meeting annual report submission requirements, fostering accountability and growth in the sector.
The successful training marked a collaborative effort between the CDA Cordillera Administrative Region Extension Office and local government units.
The remaining CCEDO technical staff are scheduled to complete their training in November 2024.
The CDO Certification Program was a significant step in professionalizing the role of CDOs, ensuring they are well-prepared to drive sustainable cooperative development across local communities in line with Republic Act 11535. By Tabuk PIO
