TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Cooperative officers and Boards of Directors (BODs) gathered for a two-day training-workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution hosted by the Federation of Cooperatives in the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Luzon (FEDCO-EDNL) in partnership with the Cordillera office of the Cooperatives Development Authority (CDA-CAR).
This activity aims to educate the cooperative officers about the importance of RA 9285 and equip them with the expertise to facilitate mediation-conciliation proceedings as a means of resolving disagreements or disputes within their individual cooperatives.
Speaking on the subject of mediation in cooperative settings, Parity Nga-awan III of CDA-CAR emphasized the need of cooperatives having efficient conciliation and mediation procedures in place at their level. This process can address a variety of concerns, including delinquency, complaints against officials and BODs, and by-law infractions.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss their thoughts and mediation experiences during this exercise. One participant discussed how disputes resulting from overdue loans are resolved in a more democratic and peaceful way. In addition, participants conveyed their gratitude and pledged to make use of the same whenever necessary throughout the mediation process. Six workshop tasks were also offered to the attendees to do during the session.
Because of the CDA’s dedication to offering extra support and materials, the participants had a better grasp of how the mediation process is applied in real-life situations, which made them more equipped to participate in the mediation itself. For this two-day affair, the topic discussed are introduction to alternative dispute resolution, the mediator, ethics in mediation and conciliation, anatomy and analysis of conflict, and fundamental and stages of mediation.
