The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) is holding a two-day training titled “Climate-Smart Governance: Equipping Public Servants for Sustainable Environmental Leadership” at the City Conference Hall from May 15 to 16.
City ENR Officer Salud Lammawin highlighted the crucial role of street sweepers across various parts of the city.
She emphasized their significant contributions in implementing cleanliness and beautification programs for city streets.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero, represented by Oliver Mendoza, also acknowledged the vital role of street sweepers in maintaining the city’s overall cleanliness and livability.
“This training is designed to enhance the knowledge of participants and improve the programs and services of their respective offices,” said Mendoza.
The program includes modules on inspiring teams toward sustainable initiatives, developing leadership skills for promoting climate-smart policies, and crafting effective messaging for environmental programs. These sessions are facilitated by personnel from CENRO-DENR Tabuk City.
Another key topic covered is the role of public servants in climate-smart governance, including how they can lead and support environmental initiatives in their communities.
The science of climate change is also discussed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of its impacts and the need for urgent action.
Participants are also trained on raising public awareness and gaining community support for environmental efforts, paving the way for a more climate-resilient city. By Ian Addatu
