BAGUIO CITY — The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) Baguio Satellite office was formally inaugurated at Gestdan Centrum, Bokawkan in Baguio City on August 7, 2024.
CFO Secretary Romulo “Leo” V. Arugay and city officials led the ribbon-cutting, and was joined by CFO Officers, accompanied by CFO officers and regional government officials.
“Now, the services they need are at their doorstep. This is a significant step in enhancing our service delivery and making our services more accessible, a testament to our shared mission of ensuring client satisfaction through efficient, effective, and inclusive delivery of our frontline services,” Arugay said.
The CFO, an agency under the Office of the President, was established on June 16, 1980, through Batas Pambansa 79. It replaced the Office of Emigrant Affairs (OEA) and expanded its mandate to better serve the welfare and interests of Filipino migrants.
The Commission on Filipino Overseas provides essential services to Filipino permanent migrants, Filipinos who have become naturalized citizens of other countries or dual citizens, marriage migrants, Filipino au pairs, descendants of Filipinos overseas as defined in Batas Pambansa 79, and holders of U.S. J-1 visas.
The CFO Baguio Satellite Office will offer various programs, including the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar, Peer Counseling Program, Guidance and Counseling Program, Country Familiarization Seminar, and the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar for U.S. Exchange Visitor Program participants.
Secretary Arugay also highlighted that the Baguio office can cater to Regions I, II and III with the road access built by the government linking areas to Baguio City.
“Ang pagbubukas ng CFO Baguio Satellite Office ay bunga ng ating sama-samang pagsisikap mula sa ating mga officers at sa lahat ng mga empleyado gayundin sa suporta ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Baguio sa pangunguna ni Mayor Benjie Magalong,” Arugay added. By J.M. Rosario
