TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a worldwide Christian church, debuted its humanitarian project in the province by donating various medical equipment to Kalinga Gabriella Mija Kim Medical Center (KGMKMC).
These medical equipment which were turned over today include chemistry analyzer, ECG, cardiac monitor, hospital bed stretcher, pulmonary aides, surgery room light, aneroid sphygmomanometer, manual bp with stethoscope, weighing scale, EENT, delivery kit, autoclave and delivery with a total amount of P1,052,270.32.
In an interview with Elder Willie Estrada, the manager for Self-reliance and Welfare for Northern Luzon area, he said that the hospital was chosen as beneficiary for this humanitarian donation after considering the recommendation of church members residing in Tabuk to extend assistance for the hospital in the form of various medical equipment for patient’s use.
He added that the fund used to procure the items came from the efforts of the church members themselves as a gesture of love and compassion to others.
A member of the Latter-day Saints, Dr. Alrin Falgui, who is also the Medical Officer IV of the KGMKMC said that the donated equipment are essential health intervention tools for diagnosis and treatment of diseases and will also aid in delivering better health services to those who need it.
Provincial officials lead by Governor James Edduba and Vice Governor Jocel Baac with some members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, employees of the Provincial Local Government and the KGMJKM, barangay officials of Lacnog West, Lacnog East, Nambaran, Bulo, Agbannawag, and Malalao, with Elders Henry Heslop and Sister Elizabeth Heslop, volunteer missionaries of the Latter-day Saints Charities were present during the turnover ceremony.
The groundbreaking for the next phase of the hospital building’s development came before the delivery of medical equipment.
The KGMKMC is a 25-bed capacity hospital which started its operation in 2011 and obtained its License To Operate from the Department of Health (DOH) in 2016 is considered the catchment area for most patients in the barangays of eastern part of Tabuk.
