BAGUIO CITY – The city government assured a status quo of tenants in the Maharlika Livelihood Complex following the turnover of the facility to the city during simple rites held at the complex’s lobby Wednesday morning.
In his acceptance speech, Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong said that the city will work on the initial rehabilitation and restoration of the complex while preparing the comprehensive master development plan to guide the implementation of future works to improve the current state of the facility.
He urged the tenants to cooperate and participate in future consultations to be conducted by the city government to ensure that their recommendations and suggestions on how to improve the complex will be heard and taken into consideration.
The city chief executive claimed that any plans and programs for the complex will be undertaken in consultation with the tenants and other concerned sectors to elicit their inputs that will bolster any plan to improve the current state of the commercial hub.
According to him, the city government will listen to their plight on how to proceed with the administration and management of Maharlika but they should also do their obligation by not allowing the sub-leasing of stalls because the city will not allow this illegal practice.
He said that one of the priority works that will be undertaken in the facility will be the improvement of the lighting in the different parts of the complex aside from the upgrading of other amenities that will entice more people to patronize the goods and services being provided by the different tenants.
The mayor pointed out that the city remains committed in ensuring that the livelihoods of the tenants will be protected and enhanced through consistent consultations with the affected sector to give pride and dignity to the city-owned and managed business center. By Dexter A. See
