TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Athletic Meet Kick-Off, held on January 9 at Tabuk City National High School, officially launched a three-day sports event running until January 12.
The opening ceremony was led by Schools Division Superintendent Benedicta Gamatero, who acknowledged the participation of athletes and coaches from the four districts, including the city officials from the city and other visitors.
In her message, Gamatero stressed the significance of the event in fostering sportsmanship and personal growth, urging everyone to perform their best.
“Congratulations to you, our dear athletes, for making it this far. Your success is a result of the hard work and dedication you have put into your training. Remember, you owe it to yourself to be not only a great athlete but also a proud representative of your district.” Gamatero said.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero shared a message emphasizing the constitutional mandate to support sports activities as part of nation-building.
“Sports is an enhancing activity of the capabilities of individuals to succeed and for nations to be strong and united. In sports, we learn skills and values in life.” Estrañero added.
He encouraged athletes to showcase both skill and sportsmanship while striving for excellence in preparation for the upcoming regional competition.
Vice Mayor Atty. Dick Bal-o attended to show his support, as did key officials from the Schools Division Office of Tabuk and the City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office.
Tabuk City will be represented by the athletic meet winners for the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Meet Association in February, which will take place in Benguet.
