BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Local Civil Registry Office was able to collect some P4, 474,074.00 from various civil registration fees that were paid by clients for the release or registration of their desired documents in the said office last year.
Assistant Local Civil Registrar Allan Abayao claimed that the aforesaid amount was P844,480.00 or 23.26 percent higher than the similar collection of the local government from civil registration fees during the previous year.
He pointed out that for the said office to improve public access, the Local Civil Registry office seeks to implement online application for simple transactions like the issuance of live birth, marriage and death certificates.
The assistant department head said that a soft launching of the said online application was done last February 6, 2025.
Further, the Local Civil Registry office will also implementing the online assistance of clients on civil registration requirements and processes and online payment system.
On the other hand, Abayao pointed out that there will also be an increased barangay coverage for information and education campaign and mobile registration and similar campaigns on the importance of a timely and accurate entry of data on the registration of civil documents.
According to him, there will also be a continuous attendance to capacity building, especially on the updates on civil registry laws and processes to improve efficiency and timely delivery of services.
He noted that the office also aims to enhance a more conducive and client friendly physical set up of the said office for efficient and effective delivery of services to their clients in the future.
The local government, through the Local Civil Registry Office, in coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), will be conducting various programs in celebration of the Civil Registration Month. By Dexter A. See
