BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan has signed a city council resolution congratulating and commending Mylene Lagante Eugenio for her second runner-up finish in Women’s Physique during the “Men of Steel International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Pro Qualifier” held in Malaysia on April 21, 2018, and for her achievements in women’s bodybuilding.
A resident of Kias Barangay, Eugenio is currently working as a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified fitness instructor and trainer at a local gym where she helps her clients gain healthier bodies and prepare them for competitions.
Despite being a mother of two kids, Eugenio continues to work in the gym and regularly participates in bodybuilding competitions where she emerged as overall champion in 2017 and 2018 in the prestigious Gemalyn Crosby Sportsfest in Manila and is usually a podium finisher in most contests she joins.
“There is a stereotype that women cannot excel or even compete in the male-dominated sport of bodybuilding due to the traditional image that they are frail and weak. As time has clearly shown, women are now going head-to-head with men in all aspects of professions and even sports,” the resolution states.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said that Eugenio’s feat not only brings honor to herself and her family but to the entire City of Baguio as well.
