BAGUIO CITY – Employees of the different departments of the city government here spearheaded by the City environment and parks management office commenced the tree planting activity to take advantage of the environmental condition brought by the past monsoon rains.
About 14,000 seedlings will be planted along Forbes Park parcel 2 and burnham.
The employees of the city accounting, city assessor, city budget and city buildings and architecture office initially planted 1,400 seedlings last Aug. 7.
CEPMO, civil registrar, and city engineering office were scheduled this week to plant 3,100 seedlings.
The other offices scheduled to plant about 9,000 more seedlings next week are the general services office, health services office, city human resource and management office, legal office, city mayor’s office together with the library, city planning and development office, sangguniang panlungsod, city social welfare and development office, treasury office, veterinary office, municipal trail court, prosecutor, regional trial court, and department of education.
Said activity is part of the city’s celebration of the 115th anniversary of the Civil Service Commission with the theme “Kayang Kaya Mo, Lingkod Bayani” this September.
The city’s reforestation program is in conformity with executive order no. 26, series of 2011 also known as the National Greening Program which states, “all students, identified by the DepEd and CHED all government employees shall be individually required to plant a minimum of 10 seedlings per year in areas determined by the Convergence Initiative. Private sectors and civil society groups shall likewise be encouraged to participate in the NGP”.
“As part of our objective to improve out tree “Survival Rate”, we are integrating maintenance and protection – clearing and brushing of planted seedlings as part of the activities,” said mayor Domogan.
