The city government has extended the deadline for accepting offers for its smart mobility and transportation system project to Oct. 15, 2022.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the time extension is needed to reach more prospective proponents so that the city can have an array of proposals to choose the best from.
Considered as one of the city’s catalytic projects, the smart mobility and transportation system aims to modernize the city’s public transportation system and provide a long-term solution to the city’s perennial traffic problem.
He said the city envisions the system to be managed by an integrated artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mechanism that can monitor traffic conditions and direct solutions to ensure equitable distribution of public utility vehicles.
Aside from addressing traffic congestions, the system is preferred to also have the capability to manage traffic violations through no-contact scheme, among other features.
