City officials recently expressed the city government’s appreciation to the PhilSeven Foundation, Inc. (PFI) represented by its chairman Jose Victor P. Paterno in recognition of their generous contributions to the city.
Under Resolution No. 623, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the local government recognizes the contributions of the said foundation for emulating their exemplary commitment to social responsibility and community welfare to the city.
PFI is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Philippine Seven Corporation engaged in the operation and franchise of 7-11 stores in the country and had been generous to the city government in terms of support to various community-related activities.
Among the foundation’s current initiatives is the Gulong ng Karunungan which, in partnership with the city, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, involves the operation of a mobile facility dubbed as ‘Parent Effectiveness Service (PES) on Wheels,’ an adoptive and sustainable approach of learning development interventions of parents in the communities. The PES on Wheels provides a package of service where a mobile van with complete logistics and materials for PES is designed to deliver the services to the communities effectively.
The local government implements the PES by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 11908 or the Parent Effectiveness Service Program Act where every local government is mandated to give priority to parents or parent substitutes with vulnerable children.
The council claimed that the foundation has been an invaluable partner of the CSWDO in the successful conduct of social enhancement activities benefiting the senior citizens in the city through their donations of various gift items during the programmed activities.
Moreover, the foundation, in partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilient Foundation, was instrumental in the successful conduct of intensive disaster risk reduction and management trainings on geographic information system mapping for the frontline selected barangays in the city organized by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in October 2023.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the PFI for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
