City officials recently expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Trade and Industry–Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) for providing funds to support the initiatives and programs of the city government related to their mandate.
Under Resolution No. 748, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the financial support from the DTI-CAR has been instrumental in realizing the goals of the Ibagiw creative festival providing a platform for local artists, creators and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents, collaborative endeavors and contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the city.
Earlier, the City Council, through Resolution No, 672, series of 2023, granted authority to the chief executive representing the city government to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the DTI-CAR relative to the Lunsod Lunsod program of the agency, particularly the Ibagiw creative festival that commenced last October 25 until December 20, 2023.
The DTI-CAR has consistently demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation, creativity, and economic development in the different parts of the region.
Further, the DTI-CAR through its Lunsod Lunsod program has provided crucial funding to support creative initiatives and programs of the city government over the past several years tracing back since the city was recognized as a Creative City by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network in 2017.
The Ibagiw creative festival is an annual gathering in the city to aggressively promote the local creative industry following the city’s designation as a Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network on October 31, 2017.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the DTI-CAR for the agency’s information, guidance, ready reference and for further needed action and as a token of gratitude for their significant role in advancing the creative industry and cultural vibrancy of the city. By Dexter A. See
