TABUK CITY, Kalinga – During the first quarter meeting of the City Nutrition Council (CNC), the City Health Services Office (CHSO) announced that only seven barangays reached the passing score of 85% during the barangay MELLPI (Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation) assessment namely: barangays are Dagupan Weste, Cabaritan, Casigayan, Lucog, Laya East, Masablang and Appas.
According to Ms. Joy Alunday, the nutrition program coordinator, most barangays improved their execution of nutrition-related programs, based on the assessment of CNC-Technical Working Group members conducted from February 26 to March 14, 2025.
To assist other barangays in passing the next assessment, the CNC recommends reorganizing the Barangay Nutrition Council (BNC), discussing the vision and mission of nutrition policies during meetings, barangay adoption of nutrition-related policies, semi-annual BNC monitoring, an information drive on nutritional guidelines, and a quarterly CNC meeting.
The MELLPI has six essential dimensions: Vision and Mission, Nutrition Laws and Policies, Governance and Organizational Structure, Local Nutrition Committee Management Functions, Nutrition Interventions/Services, and Change in Nutritional Status.
The first quarter meeting of the CNC was presided by City Councilor Atty. Ivan Yannick Bagayao, chairman, Committee on Health. By Darwin Serion
