The city government recently lined up various activities in celebration of Filipino Family Month pursuant to existing laws, rules and regulations.
Councilor Elmer Datuin, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, Women and Urban Poor, said that the city is now conducting the Search for the Natatanging Pamilyang Pilipino ng Baguio where people can start sending their nominations to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
For each of the Fridays of September, he noted that there will be a Lib Talk at the Baguio City Public Library starting from 10 a.m. onwards.
Also at the city library is the scheduled conduct of a family movie every Saturday of the month at around 1:30pm where wholesome and family-oriented movies will be featured for families to enjoy.
On September 11 at around 8:30am, the city will be conducting a marriage enrichment program at the Venus Park Hotel which will be followed by the National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on September 16, 2024 from 8:30am to 5pm at the Plaza Garden Residences.
From 8am to 5pm on September 18-19, 2024, there will be training on early detection, prevention and intervention on disability, where the venue will be announced soon.
On September 24-27, 2024, 8am. to 5pm at the El Cielito Hotel, there will be a Trainor’s Training on Parent Effectiveness Services and ERPAT or what is known as the Empowerment, Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities.
The city will also be holding two most awaited activities every Family Month such as the mass wedding and the Family Fair Day on September 25, 2024 at the Venus Park Hotel and on September 29, 2024 from 8am onwards at Malcolm Square and Session Road, respectively.
Datuin disclosed that the city government is targeting some 50 couples who will join in matrimony while there will be lots of booths where the families can enjoy, have fun and at the same time learn how to care for valuable and supportive partners from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), City Health Services Office (CHSO), CSWDO, Baguio Fire Department and Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) during the Family Fair Day.
There will also be a chalk art contest care of the Balikatan sa Kaunlaran and medical mission care of the Lions Club of Baguio and BCPO.
Aside from the said activities, the alderman revealed that there will also be activities that will be done in the barangay level like seminars or forums related to families care of the CSWD unit offices and their own family desk where some will have a Family Day at the Park in partnership with Stone Kingdom.
He acknowledged the steering committee members who are behind these activities that included the City Mayor, City Council, CSWDO, CHSO, Local Civil Registry Office, City Library, Public Information Office, PDAO, BCPO, Baguio City Jail–Male Dorm, Baguio City Jail–Female Dorm, BFD, KALIPI, Federation of Solo Parents, Council for the Restoration of Filipino Values, Baguio Lions Club and Venus Parkview hotel.
