The city government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) lined up various activities to celebrate National Children’s Month from November 1 to December 2024.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Liza Bulayungan said that the theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating A Safe Philippines!”
The celebration started with the National Children’s Month kick-off program at the City Hall grounds followed by the logo-making and essay-writing contest held at the Bahay Pag-asa in Balenben, Irisan last November 4.
On November 9, there will be advocacy sessions dubbed as ‘Pag-ayaman,’ Earthly Clean at the Botanical Garden, storytelling at the park at the Children’s park and free math and English tutorial at the Baguio City library.
Further, there will be a Parent and Child Talk at the Bahay Pag-asa and Tour and Treat on November 12 followed by the CSWDO-BPA Amazing Race and ‘Bola’ Day on November 15.
The Children Story Book Writing Contest will be held on November 15 where entries will be submitted online while there will be gift-giving and feeding programs in the different day care centers from November 15-28.
Children will have the chance to display their talents during the Children got Talent in the different barangays and Basic Life Skills and Art Session on November 16.
There will be a BPA Podcast dubbed ‘My Life Before, During and My Future’ on November 17 followed by the BATAlympics in Dontogan barangay on November 20 and the Federation of Barangay Children’s Protection Council (FBCPC) benchmarking in Binan, Laguna and Career Coaching on November 20-22.
The celebration continues with the Children Advocates Summit and National Student’s Day on November 23 followed by the first aid training on November 26-29.
High school students will be oriented on various laws on online sexual abuse, anti-sexual harassment among others while guidance counselors will also be given the necessary training on the said laws on November 27.
The schedule for board games contests and spelling bee that will be held at the city library will be announced by the organizers the soonest.
The month-long celebration will culminate with a program that will be held at Malcolm Square on December 1. By Dexter A. See
