BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently requested the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) in coordination with the Permits and Licensing Division of the City Mayor’s Office to submit a report to the city council within fifteen days on matters concerning the operations of boating concessionaires at the Burnham Lake.
Under Resolution No. 655, series of 2024, local legislators stated the there is a need for the concerned offices to submit the requisite report on the operation of boating concessionaires at the Burnham lake to address concerns that shall form the basis for the formulation of appropriate legislative measures that could help in resolving disputes, promote fair practices and augment the management and operation of the lake.
Further, the body also needs vital information from the report of the concerned offices to properly guide them in deciding on these matters.
Earlier, the council considered a letter dated September 11, 2024 forwarding for proper committee referral and for the CEPMO to comment on the letter dated August 8, 2024 of Corazon Ogena submitting alleged inconsistencies with the response of the body relative to her request for an investigation about their situation at Burnham Lake and the offices involved and letter dated November 7, 2024 of Corazon Ogena requesting the council to investigate the theft incident at Burnham Lake on November 5, 2024.
Among the matters that should be included in the requested report are an update of all city ordinances regarding boating concessionaires, identification of issues in the case of Corazon Ogena, analysis of whether individuals not actively operating a concession should retain their business permits or if the said permits should be revoked and re-issued and recommendations for appropriate legislative measures to address the identified issues and improve the management of boating operations at the lake.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
